ASSISTANCE WITH TRAVEL & TRANSPORT

What is the travel & transport funding?

A participant will be able to access funding through the NDIS for transport assistance if the participant cannot use public transport without substantial difficulty due to their disability.

Participants can get NDIS funding only if they cannot take public transport. Funding considers any relevant taxi subsidy scheme, and it does not cover transport assistance for carers and family to transport the participant with a disability for everyday commitments. The amount of transport allowance the NDIS provides each year depends on the participant’s needs, on personal situation, and how often you work or study.

Travel & transport assistance may include:

  • Transport to community activities, medical appointments, or place of education or employment
  • The rent of specialised vehicles
  • Funding to pay a support worker to drive you around or accompany you out into the community. This can include things like shopping trips, social events, or transport to medical appointments.

We understand that transport is an important part of freedom and independence, as it allows you to see friends, get to work, and travel around town. Our team at Efficient Care Services provide the assistance the participant needs. We can assist with making the booking, hiring a suitable vehicle, and plan your trip.

Are you eligible for travel & transport support?

If you are aged between 7 and 65, a local area coordinator as well as our support coordinators can help you to understand the NDIS, and help you with your application.

There are also residence and disability related requirements you need to meet. To find out more on eligibility, click here to find all requirements on the NDIS website.
